Being a CPRIT Grantee: What You Need To Know - Academic Research Grantee Training

Join CPRIT for a redesigned and interactive webinar that will help current grantees successfully navigate compliance and reporting requirements. The training will include an overview of common reporting errors, relevant administrative rule changes, interactive exercises, and a Q&A with staff.

CPRIT’s administrative rule § 703.22 requires all grantees to complete an annual compliance training by December 31 of each year. The Authorized Signing Official (ASO) and at least one other individual from each organization must attend the annual compliance training; however, we encourage all staff who use CPRIT’s grants management system to participate in this training. Attendance at this webinar will satisfy the training requirement for 2019.

PLEASE NOTE: Beginning this calendar year, required grantee compliance trainings will be program specific. Organizations with grants across multiple programs should attend the training that pertains to the majority of their awards.

CPRIT staff participating in the webinar will include representatives from the compliance department, program staff, operations staff, and the legal department.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday, October 9th at 10:00-11:30 am CT.

Dr. James Willson, Chief Scientific Officer provided an overview of the revised ETRA RFA and CPRIT's interest in "bridging the gap" between promising new discoveries achieved in the research laboratory and commercial development for a therapeutic, device, or diagnostic assay through activities including preclinical proof-of-principle data that demonstrate applicability to the planned clinical scenario and preclinical toxicology and formulation to de-risk the development of lead compounds or devices.

Mike Lang, Chief Product Development Officer provided an overview of a new Seed Award mechanism for early-stage oncology startups. This mechanism is designed to target companies that may be a bit early in their development timeline to be competitive for CPRIT's two existing Product Development Research awards: the Texas Company Award and the Company Relocation Award.
