This new discipline is heralded by the complex interplay among the wide range of current (and often disparate) computational science applications in both clinical and research settings that impact cancer medicine and biology. This program will utilize the resources and faculty of 6 institutions: Rice University, the University of Houston, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center, University of Texas Medical Branch and University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. This group of institutions has a long-standing history of working together in training programs. Each brings a different component necessary for the success of this program. The medical institutions bring essential central cancer perspective and expertise. The universities bring mathematics, computer science and engineering not available in the medical institutions. This postdoctoral program has the potential to make rapid yet lasting impact on cancer research in Texas.
