Tobacco use is causally related to multiple cancers and 30% of cancer deaths. Population-level tobacco control initiatives have successfully reduced smoking, the most common form of tobacco use, in Texas. However, women experience an ever-increasing disproportionate burden of tobacco-related health consequences; e.g., from 1959 to 2010 women's risk of developing lung cancer increased tenfold.
