CPRIT SELECTS TWO SEASONED EXECUTIVES TO LEAD THE AGENCY FORWARD
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today announced the appointment of Wayne Roberts to be Interim Executive Director of the agency. Roberts will serve in this capacity until a permanent Executive Director can be hired. Mansour also announced that former Texas Deputy Comptroller Billy Hamilton has agreed to serve as a senior advisor to the CPRIT Executive Director and CPRIT Oversight Committee.
CPRIT APPOINTS DR. MARGARET L. KRIPKE AS CHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today announced the appointment of Dr. Margaret L. Kripke to the position of chief scientific officer, where she will be responsible for overseeing the Institute’s Research portfolio. Historically, CPRIT’s Research portfolio has funded the majority of the Institute’s $300 million in annual grant awards, and is the second largest funding source for cancer-related research in the U.S. CPRIT’s other portfolios include Prevention, which focuses on reducing cancer incidence among Texans utilizing the latest proven methodologies, and Commercialization, which centers on efforts to quickly get lifesaving products to Texans battling the disease.
CPRIT ANNOUNCES $85 MILLION IN COMPETITIVE GRANT AWARDS TO SUPPORT CANCER-FIGHTING PROJECTS IN TEXAS
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today announced more than $85 million in funding to support 75 new scientific research projects and scientific recruits to support a variety of cancer-fighting efforts in Texas. These new awards bring the total tally of funded grants to 502, amounting to nearly $841 million since the Institute opened its doors in 2009.

The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) is pleased to announce the opening of its third annual “Innovations in Cancer Prevention and Research” conference. At the conference, CPRIT’s largest to date, CPRIT grantees will showcase the work made possible by the Institute across its research, prevention and commercialization portfolios.
CPRIT Statement on Dr. Gilman’s resignation and CPRIT’s future direction
With the departure of Dr. Gilman, CPRIT is entering a new era. It is no surprise that some of the current reviewers have chosen to leave at this time. We have identified several exceptional candidates to succeed Dr. Gilman as Chief Scientific Officer, and this individual's first order of business will be to recruit outstanding cancer experts to serve as peer reviewers under his or her leadership. We have every confidence that CPRIT will have a full cadre of expert peer reviewers in place for the next scientific review cycle.

CPRIT’s Governing Board Ratifies $114 Million in New Cancer Awards
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today announced funding of more than $114 million to support a variety of cancer-fighting efforts in Texas. The 45 newly funded projects and scientific recruits bring the total amount of grants awarded by CPRIT since its inception to more than $760 million.

CPRIT announced the establishment of the Future Directions initiative earlier this month as a vehicle to inform the next phase of the state agency’s lifecycle.
CPRIT OPENS DOORS FOR AUDIT BY STATE AUDITOR’S OFFICE
The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today announced that an audit by the State Auditor's Office will kickoff with an entrance conference this afternoon. The audit is part of the State Auditor's Office annual workplan.
