Gov. Perry Appoints Meade and Moody to Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Alex Meade III of Mission and Walker Moody of Houston to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee. The committee guides the work of the institute, which will award grants over the next 10 years to expedite innovation in cancer research, and attract and expand cancer prevention and treatment research capabilities.
Meade is CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. He is a member of the Texas Economic Development Council, Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, International Council of Shopping Centers, Industrial Asset Management Council, Texas Border Coalition, 281 Coalition, and the I-69 Alliance. He is also a past member of the Advisory Board of Economic Development Stakeholders and past interim director and manager of economic development at the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce. Meade received a bachelor's degree from St. Edward's University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Brownsville. He is appointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015.
Moody is a partner at Tudor, Pickering, Holt and Co., and chief operating officer of TPH Asset Management. He is a past board member and past treasurer of the Texas Children's Hospital Cancer Center Carousel Board, and a past board member of the Houston Downtown YMCA. Moody served in the U.S. Air Force. He received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University. He is appointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013.
